About WW2 War Museum
The space that houses the war museum was constructed by the German troops in 1942 on Platanias hill, below the church of Agios Dimitrios. It consists of an underground complex of chambers and tunnels that were used to store ammunition and military material during World War II. In recent years, the underground space has been preserved as a monument in memory of the Cretan Resistance during the Nazi Occupation, exhibiting valuable objects from that time.
